DescriptionHandcrafted by Shannon Irish Collectors' Dolls of Dublin, Ireland, this porcelain doll "Sheila" has been hand-finished in traditional Irish step dancing dress. Her head, arms and legs are meticulously crafted in the finest porcelain. Her glass eyes are hand-set, and her beautiful facial features are lovingly painted by hand.
Sheila's Story: This collectors' doll is named Sheila, which is of Celtic origin and means "musical." Her eye-catching green Irish dance dress costume is elaborately decorated with colorful embroidered Celtic knotwork patterns. These intricate designs have been inspired by the famous Book of Kells. Her costume is enriched at the cuffs and collar with white crochet lace which has been lovingly made by her grandmother. As she lifts her legs dancing to the Irish jigs, her full circular skirt with the inverted pleat at the front lifts, showing off its vibrant red satin lining. To complete her stunning costume, attached to her shoulder at the back is the bart (shoulder piece) of her dress which is also elaborately embroidered with more Celtic designs. She looks stunning in her costume, and ready to compete at the local feis.
10.5 inches high. This is a fine quality collectors' doll meant for display, not a toy. The wooden stand pictured is included, and Sheila comes handsomely boxed, ready for gift-giving. The story above is included on the hang tag.
